Fast Efi

THANKS, I was afraid of that, the Motor HOme has the olde tyme starter on it, and so I had to retard the timing from what Bird had said to put it on, the thing bucks BAD when hot.....the vette already has a Gear starter on it, due to old one failing, for a LONG time now.....

There was a 5 pin hei module used with a knock sensor. It grounded out and reduced timing by 10°. You can put a switch on it and reduce timing just for starting.
Used on some Cadillacs for sure, maybe Pontiacs and Olds too.

This same as used on a TPI??

It's the vacuum hose on the left - into the base plate. The hose on the right is for the pressure regulator

OK thanks ....I assume the instructions that came with the FAST unit gives you all these details?

 no

There is one diagram where it implies that the vacuum hose goes to the front port (the ported port), but no where does it say what each port does.

My biggest complaint - the instructions are very general and force you to call or email them when you have a question

I wonder, as older cars put that vac advance to full mani vac, and it was switched and even controlled via some t-stat arrangement sometimes, but went to ported vacuum......I always changed it do main vac when making them run right, the old way....

wonder if putting the advance to ported on the MH would have it easier to hot start, and allow my extra advance....

:shocking:

No, They used the 7 pin and handed off the controls to the computer.

Maybe, but without using a dyno, would be strictly guesswork to get peak cyl pressure throughout the rpm range.

The proper module for grounded retard is
AC Delco D1941
Wells DR137
Advance Auto CBE22P
Napa TP21
eBay is probably the cheapest.

You could run a relay on the start circuit to automatically ground the 5th pin and retard the 10° on start only.
