Front spoiler broke.... Almost $hit my pants today

:devil::surrender: sounds familiar....

:eek:

doesn't it ???

It is really easy to replace 100lbs of steel with 100lbs of fiberglass ... looks like an improvement unitil you realize that it weighs the same...

LOL

Wish is should have though to weigh this car when I bought it....

so I dunno WTF has happened over the years...NO clue....

All I know is the Clay Co. dump said 3300 lbs.....and shuddup with the comments from the peanut gallery....:pprrtt:

I would imagine you could duplicate that in aluminium.:goodevil:

Nah, I'll just use some smaller pipe and smaller brackets but that thing in aluminum would be sweet....

What is that vacuum can good for anyways ??? How many times a year do I use the headlights ? How many times do I use them without engine vacuum ???

I did notice how flimsy the front is without all this steel bolted up tight.... I'll definitely add enough steel to prevent catastrophic front end damage in case I hit something.... Yellow73SB came up up with his own brackets I think....

I replaced mine with 0lbs of solid nothing. :D

Looks like you ran over something on the freeway and it pulled the glass down. Maybe some semi-truck tire shred.

I really like the aluminum version :thumbs:

Today I cut my vacuum tank and cleaned the pieces that I am planning to use as part of the new radiator/bumper support. I bet these brackets are about as heavy as the entire aluminum support :D

Spent some quality time in the garage today and came up with this "design":

It's significantly lighter than the stock stuff. I also got rid of the impact bar and cut it down but left the center piece in place. More photos tomorrow.... got too dark tonight...

vacuum sux .... :push:

I'll have to remember to block off (or remove) the vacuum lines that were connected to the tank :smash:

Guy across the street has a keg left over from last week's kegger, you can use that for a vacuum tank....

:shocking::clap:

Update: the new support is installed, fits pretty darn good and the front is rock-solid :D

Fixed my compressor hose setup.... I was using a DeVilbiss "desiccant snake" to eliminate moisture from the lines. It appears that these clog up after a while. My gun was spitting and the pressure in the lines slowly dropped while I was painting. Removed the "snake" and all is good now. Then I finally painted the (repaired) spoiler:

Now I need to add a few brackets to mount the plate and the spoiler to. Some of the threaded holes were in the parts that I removed. :footmouth:

Have you thought about a threaded hole in the front of your support? That way you could remove the license plate and just thread in an eye if the car ever needs to be winched on a trailer of rollback. That would help prevent damage to you spoiler.
