Well, you asked for it:

Ford - Fix Or Repair Daily
Chevy - Shit shaker
Pontiac Bonneville(sp) - Shittin' (sittin) Bull from Utah
Pontiac GTO - Garbage Truck Option
Corvette - Mass of Glass
Thunderbird - Turd Bird
Mercury Comet - Vomit

These were terms that were in regular use 40-50 years ago!

I never understood the three quarter (3/4) or Full Race cam descriptions. What was that all about?

AMEN. And WTF is a 3/4 cam? Only operates 6 cylinders?

A full race cam is so radical, it's for the track only, and is virtually unusable/impractical for a street driven car.
A 3/4 race cam means, it's not a full race cam, yet is better performing than stock.

I have understood for years, but why did it get to be so overused, is what I'm asking. I guess. I was the same way about a RV cam, but they make one of those now. Can you walk into a hot rod shop and ask for a 3/4 cam? I've never done it.

Must be the development of literally thousands of grinds over the decades....

50 years ago, lucky to find Isky....

old terminology, used to identify some flathead V8 cams. Some of them are still marketed with those ID's.

I remember growing up and here the term 30/30 cam and never new what that was either.(might have been a crane grind#)

"Street Rods have a sbc under the hood and a can of wax in the trunk, Hot Rods have a Flathead under the hood and tools in the trunk"

30/30 cam: Gm # 3849346. Sometimes called the Duntov cam. Refers to the .030" intake/.030" exhaust valve clearence required.
