Today we had to put down our beloved Luci. She helped us raise our children, protected and comforted my wife thru a few operations, and was the best dog we ever had. She was loyal for 12 years, and never complained till the end. Good bye old friend.

My thoughts are with you.

It's something all of us dog owners have to go through. It's not easy but remember the great times you had together.

It's always hard.... making that decision. They are the best friends ever.

We put down two in the last 2 weeks, one due to being hit by a car, one due to old age. I was going to post them but I was too down about it.

My thoughts are with you....

Sorry to hear that, the pain of losing a good dog is right up there with losing a family member.

Dawg, kittah, don't matter they all missed....

Linda lost her Chiwawa some years ago, and so we had to find her, as she attempted to run away to die, and so put her down....Linda all long faced for a couple months, then came Christmas.....and her daughter walks in with a little Chiwawa puppy.....would have paid much more than that for to see Linda's face light up like that....so, give it a little while, pick an occasion and surprise her with a new dawg.....:clap:

So sympathy and empathy with you Bird...

Sorry to hear that Jeff. It's always tough to put down your loyal friend. Hope some day that you find another loyal friend to fill the gap in your life.

Good bye old friend all right.
Man that hurts, we have a boxer about the same age.
Just thinking about the day we're gonna have to do this ....
She slowed down but like you said, she was there too for the kids.
Plus my wife's father passed this chrismass day and we now have his dog with us. about the same age too.

Man I feel for you and your family Jeff. Its one of the worst things I have ever had to do. They are our friends and family they do not judge. They are always there for us, all to eager to please. Pets have been some of my best relationships and they all will be missed.

I thank God we have never had to make that decision. I thanked God for taking all our pups peacefully, I know none suffered more than one day and I would take care of them in their twilight for as long as they were not suffering. I still cry when I use their old brush. At the end, I would wash their faces every day and they really did like all the extra care and attention. My new pup Sam has helped bring much of that joy back. My sincere sympathies,

Jeff, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I went through a similar thing a while back, and I understand the pain. Most dogs are pure love, and it leaves a big hole in your heart when they're gone. My wife finally talked me into getting another dog, but while it's a good dog, the empty spot still remains.
I don't have the magic answer, but hopefully the good memories of Luci will bring some comfort.

I appreciate all of the kind words. May we all aspire to be the person our dogs think that we are.

Sorry for your loss, she looked like a great dog.

I know the pain of losing a beloved dog
