Good luck TT....

I'm with TT on the off-side....they had been called extremely tight the whole game.

I guess Robben had his chances though. Game should've never made it to extra time. Both teams had great opportunities and just blew them.

Robbens 2nd chance he was hindered by Puyol, guy should have gotten a 2nd yellow but of course, Spain got away with everything. They made some hard fouls too and a lot of falling, lying, crying, acting...the ref bought into it big time.

I'll say up front I know little about football. I've never watched a game before this World Cup and Sunday's final was the only one I ever watched complete.

That said, I have to agree the ref was a bit trigger happy and NL seemed to be the target.

It seems to me that tangled legs is kind of the nature of the game and I wouldn't stop the play when some one falls down. In fact I loved it towards the end when the Spaniard's laying there whining and the game raged on without him!:trumpet:

I saw too much officiating breaking up the pace and it seemed biased to my untrained eye.

Was that the guy that wasn't hit by anyone but pulled a groin muscle and fell down ?

What's the story with the florescent orange uniforms ?

Has to do w Willem van Oranje, Oranje is ""Orange" that's why. Apart from our red/white/blue flag we also have an orange banner.

Under history/politics the Netherlands

Well IMO the bright orange doesn't help your players. You can see them coming from a mile away like a construction zone sign. A stealthier uniform might have given them that split second advantage they needed.

Haze Gray, sorta like the apparition on the horizon...you know, the Flying Duthmen???:clap::drink:

The game is not about stealth, many teams wear bright colored uniforms, in fact ivory Coast is orange too.

That POS Webb killed our game by awarding key players with a yellow, all they could do was kick the ball over the side or do a very cautious sliding.
Looked like there was a lot of yelling at the ref in the beginning , not a good idea to piss off the ref.

I guess you missed the point. :banghead:

You obviously don't understand this game, it's not hide & seek

Don't you just kick that little soccer ball in that net thingy to win ? I think that's what those guys in the blue uniforms did to WIN.
Its a game , your guys lost , stop whining and making excuses and move on.

Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what to do and what not to do?

It's a game yes, but a lot of people get fanatical about games. Isn't that why sports are amongst the most viewed events of all time?

Then you ask me what the Orange outfits are about, I tried to explain it's because the Royal name "Oranje" means orange hence the color, and it's our royal color. I even gave a wiki link and what do you do? You disrespect it by ridiculing it by referring to it as a construction zone sign where the uniform doesn't even matter as it's a game of tactics and positioning. Never has a bright uniform been proven to be a disadvantage.. As such you disrespect my country and me and then at the end you call me a whiner too?
We are proud of our orange, the players wear their orange uniforms with pride. The people here dress up in orange with pride too...and you ridicule it?

The guys in blue were only wearing blue because they were the "visiting" team, normally they wear a red outfit. What about Brazil? Green & yellow? Mighty conspicuous, or Germany....bright white.

You should take your whining complaints to the international press. There have been thousands of stories about poor officiating at the World Cup. I would start with the Associated Press:

On the other side, FIFA has several problems it must address, starting with the officiating.

England's Howard Webb was lauded for his previous work in this tournament, then lost complete control of the most important match. He handed out so many yellow cards early that by the second half, he ignored fouls rather than eject players with a second yellow or even a direct red card.

That finished off a World Cup in which the officiating was, to be very charitable, mediocre. Missed goals (England against Germany, United States against Slovenia) and offside goals allowed (Argentina against Mexico) plagued the event. If FIFA president Sepp Blatter doesn't seriously consider using technology to help referees — even if only for deciding goals — he endangers the world's most popular sporting event.

You must not follow sports of any kind. This "whining" happens every day in every city across the USA on sports talk radio and newspapers.

Awesome discussion about soccer  (sarcasm) ... this topic usually gets just as heated as politics or religion :D

Now we need a Brit and an Argentine to join the discussion

I was not impressed with the overall officiating of the matches that I watched.

Since I have 3 boys, I have been to hundreds of youth sporting events...wrestling, basketball, baseball, football(american), soccer, etc. And I can say that at least from what I have seen over the past 15 years, soccer officiating has been the most controversial next to American football. Most sports games are decided by more than 1 score most of the time. Soccer at the world cup level is a game of 1 goal or 2 to decide a match. The officiating has to be top notch for that level of competition. I think sports officiating has to be one of the most difficult jobs in the world....no matter what happens, you are most likely hated by everyone.

Back about 10 years ago, my son's soccer coach wanted the kids to have the brightest color uniforms.......why you ask? Because the kids actually found it easier to get the ball to their own player by seeing the bright socks or jersey....most of the time, the kids only had a split second or 2 to make a decision...the coach thought that bright colors helped.

I meant no disrespect to your country. Its funny how you turned a question of color into disrespect of your country. Do I dare go back through your posts and count how many times you have slammed my country , the USA ?

You say its a game of tactics and positioning , but doesn't it involve sight and seeing the other players? If your opponent slips from your sight only for a split second it can be the split second that makes the difference between scoring and not scoring. I saw a lot of times when your guys could have scored if that split second had been in their favor. Why make your players wear a ball and chain or flashing beacons ? Wear your orange if you must but blend it with other colors or many different shades of orange to make your players less visible to give them an advantage not a disadvantage.
We all know certain colors are seen better by humans than others , thats why hunters wear orange and soldiers wear camouflage.

I do realize this is your website and I do appreciate you allowing me to post here, so I think its probably best for me to just shut my mouth.
