Has anyone put a Vortech or ProCharger on their C3 ????

Steve Morris has some interesting LS boost engines. They seem reasonable.

Well, first you deny that a centri blower produces boost at all rpm, and start off saying that it produces .5 psi boost at 2k rpm.

Second, given that the impeller speed depends on the pulley size, you cannot make a static rule.

My centri blower pushes noticably more air at idle than the engine is sucking. Thus, intake backpressure, or boost.

Irrespective, your op, to which I was objecting, said that there is no boost till 3k rpm. Then whammy. That is false, no long seemingly complicated mathematic explanation could suggest otherwise. Its a centri blower, not a turbo.

As for fuel consumption. A centri blower is a parasite. Im glad you get fantastic fuel economy, but it would be better if you took a steak knife to that $150 blower belt. It takes energy to spin it, and nothing is free.

Moreover, there is no boost when the BOV is open. Fuel economy does not depend only on whether or not there is boost, also false. Boost can even make an engine more efficient. Look at diesels. The loss is parasitic, the energy required to spin that monster snail.

I was just posting..as regards to the 3000 rpm figure,...a seat of the pants feeling.OK..I'll knock that down to 2500 rpm just as an negotiating point..
It's a CENTRIFUGAL blower...the pressure boost is a function of the turbine rpm SQUARED. 1/2 psia at 2000 rpm and 8.5 psia at 6500 rpm. I have the dyno sheets..actually my dyno chart only starts at 3000 rpm...The centrifugal blower, because of the rpm squared effect, does not produce significant power at low engine rpms..my supercharged car definately drives like a stock car below 2000 rpm..and my C6 will cruise at ~1600 rpm at 70 mph and still out perform nearly every car on the road..and..once again..perform like a stock car.

The supercharger was installed by Andy Green of A&A Superchargers in Ventura, Cal. This supercharger kit is proprietary with Andy Green and he has sold over 6000 kits. His product selling points include a very, very precise installation brackets for the supercharger blower. This is to insure the belt lives a long time, and doesn't get thrown off. Also included is a very large intercooler. The entire installation nevertheless looks stock.

As for fuel consumption, if you read closely I think you'll find that I did not say that the supercharger improves fuel consumption. The injectors were changed from 50lbs/hour to 60 lbs/hour. Before installation, the fuel mileage computer was showing pretty much the 27 mpg (!!) advertised by the window EPA sticker on a level freeway at about 65 mph. After the installation, I would be seeing 30 mpg (+/-) freeway...I think..as I stated in my original post...that this higher mpg was probably an artifact of the larger displacement fuel injectors and the computer didn't know about this. For highway driving, I don't think the supercharger has impacted fuel economy...street driving is another thing...but I think it's my fault...with all the hp on tap, I drive a little more enthusiastically and definitely burn more gasoline.

I originally went to Andy Green's A&A Superchargers to have an Edelbrock roots (Eaton) blower installed (the one that essentially is a ZR1 blower). Andy made a sales pitch that his centrifugal blower was what I really needed. He emphasized street ability, below 2000 rpm no change in stock performance and also no significant change in fuel economy. The Eaton blowers all dramatically reduce fuel consumption..look at the numbers for the ZR1 and the Camaro equivalent, and the Ford Mustangs. The Eaton(Roots) blowers are a lot more throttle sensitive at all engine rpms and hence really use more gasoline.

With the centrifugal supercharger, my wife can drive the car..but I tell her to never drive the car faster (never accelerate more ) than her 95 Cadillac Seville. I've also told her to never go above 2000 rpm. She seems to understand this.
..........................
Superchargers...the ultimate car performance booster..Maybe or maybe not, it won't effect normal street driving performance, but if you really get on it, the car will try to kill you if you don't know what you're doing.

So much explanation, I'm bored responding, and I'm not going to read all of that. You can argue till you're dead, but you were wrong, and my first response is sufficient to show that.

Like I said, centri blowers produce boost always, you can add the word "significant" or substantial, and I would agree, but thats not what you said originally. Your OP was full of misinformation.

Gas mileage is worse too, no if ands or buts about it.

I'm glad that you paid a tuner to do your build for you. I'm sure you have a fine machine there. I did my Procharger build in my garage. Built my motor and tuned it there too. Which is why I have the benefit of experience.

I am installing a Vortech YSI on a Dart 540 in My 1977 Resto Mod.

This car belongs to a friend of a friend. It is not mine. The only mod is a small 2 inch cut in the fender for belt clearance.
