Help! Engine problem

Yes, you're right, but first time I have all opened when I have adjust valves and all put in place I had tried to star and nothing and must all open again...
Then now at each step I try to start and when it do I have switched off the crank key.
Effectivly, I don't know why engine is so hard to turn, I have put another car with cables, the first time I did that it turned better (see the others video before). I found the sound strange too... the rings of the cylinders???
What do you mean by "Did you wash down the walls enough for the rings to drag" ? I don't understand.

Thanks for your remarks

I read you had liters of fuel in your oil. Gasoline is great at removing oil and grease, as such it may have washed most of the oil our of the cylinder walls, making for dry contact between the walls an the rings and pistons. Not a good thing at all. The drag will severely increase and could make it hard to start like that

Pull all spark plugs, mist some oil in there, or even WD40 and then turn over the engine again. You will otherwise never get oil there as lubrication of the walls depends on high pressure oil squirting out of the side clearance between the 2 rods and the crank fillets.

Compressions taken...
in this order:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

I have put oil in cylinders (W40) and the car is very difficult to start and when starting I can't keep it on, then I can't touch rockers with engine on...

10 bar is only 140psi, that's a bit low, 1 of them is pretty damn good @ 14 bar.

kind of weird that they're all low and 1 is good. This is with open throttle? All cyls oiled? WD40 is not oil, squirt regular engine oil in there to do the test or even better use marvels mystery oil since it burns off clean.

Why would you want to touch the rockers?

You are attacking this problem from all angles, try to get some system in your diagnosis and work from there

Don't start pulling stuff apart in the hope to find it.

Did you ever heck fuel pressure?

With all rockers adjusted, timing set and no vats BS throwing things off it should run.

So, check fuel pressure first. Should be around 43psi w/ key on engine off

Then check if the injectors are actually firing, you should be able to hear them tick, especially w/ a stethoscope.
Timing set correctly?

You can adjust the rockers real easy. Take the rocker body of one that is sitting on the base circle (valve not opened) then try to wiggle it. If it feels loose, give it a little more on the lock nut. Don't overdo this as you will collapse the lifter w/ no oil pressure. Do this for all rockers, turning the engine to move the lifters to the base circle and all will be well within spec to get the engine running. A little loose is not as bad as overtightened. Looking at the compression test, some of them may be overtightened and not seating. Loosen them up 1/4 turn or so.

Along with the fuel in the oil issue, it sure sounds like timing is a problem...like a couple plug wires crossed...

Thank you for your interest.
I don't think wires are crossing, many times verified and I have the shop manual.
For rockers (lifters) I have used the shop manual methode but the garagiste says me that it is only the fist part and I must adjust with engine on (but it won't)...
Well, I am going to wait for next week, the garagist want to see again my car...

The garage is wrong, you need to adjust without collapsing the lifters, you could use a pre oiler (or an old cut down distributor) to prime the oil pump & crank the engine so all lifters get oil and then adjust it, this will ensure they don't collapse. just back them all off 1/2 a turn and see what it does, then another 1/2 if it doesn't improve. Slightly loose is not as bad as turned too far to get the engine running, you can always snug them up laters.

Too bad you're all the way over in France, don't think there's anyone here that can help you hands on...

Hi!
yes, the problem is that everybody has his own opinion and his own advice and not all are the same, but worse... I am not in mechanical domain and here even garagist are not so honest and want to do the work but not in the good way, it is why I try to do what I can by myself even if it is hard for me.
Then I listen all what you say and I try to do what I can, but very slowly and with the help of the Shop Manual.
All past owners of my car didn't took care of it, I know but I try...
Then I always need of all help you can give...

Do, did you check the ful pressure yet that's the 1st thing to check on an EFI equipped car. Seconds is spark, you are getting it but is it timed correctly.

Then it valves, adjusted correctly? Cam timing Chain jumped?

I see a strange thing: everytime I touch the nut to adjust rockers and try to crank, I see again some play then I adjust again the nuts try again to crank and again some play appears on some rockers???

That's you collapsing the lifters. Back off the nuts, all of them and then use a pre oiler or a cut down distributor to create oil pressure.

Hi!
How can I do that? You mean I have to fill the stems of oil? Just that?
Thanks

No, you have to buy a pre oiler or cut down and old distributor. You cut off the rotor shaft so you can put a drill on the top end, cut down the distributor gears so the teeth are gone. that way you can drive the oil pump without interfering with the camshaft.

With the drill spinning have someone help crank the engine, preferrably slow by hadn. This should pressurize all the oil galleries and the lifters, allowing you to set them again.

When setting leave them all loose and check if the lifter is on the base circle, not a lobe. Then roll the pushrod by hand and feel when it's getting tight, or wiggle the rocker and feel when it's getting tight. Stop there, do this for all of them. When all are done (whilst spinning the crank to get different lifters on the base circle) you can button it all up and try to start the engine. If it runs and the lifters are rattling, give them all an additional 1/4 turn. If still clacking another 1/4 on those that are noisy.

For stabbing the distributor you don't have to fiddle w/ the pre oiler to align the pump, just put it in as you want, it'll stick up slightly. Then bump the starter whilst someone is lightly pushing the dizzy down. It'll fall in place. Set timing after w/ a timing gun.

Thank you very much for all that, I'll try to all understand all what you say and try to do what I'll can do and then I'll tell you what it will happen.
Thanks again

no one with enough knowledge, the first friend who hadbegin to work on my car has some big health problem with his wife and I don't see him no more since more than 1.5 years (he just separate my cylinders heads from the car) then I had to find someone else and found a garaigste who do a little repair on them and put on the engine, 1,500.00€ for that and I run only 50 km before the engine definitly switch off (he wanted 1,000.00€ more to adjust rockers) but I think he just want the money but doesn't know enough the checy's engine...
Here I belong to a little old americans cars club but everybodies say something different, and another friend tried to adjust rockers with no more succes.
When I told him I found 8 liters gasoil in the oil he answered me that I have a hole in a cylinder but I had taken the cylinders compressions and it's almost ok, I mean no hole...
etc.
Then I continue by myself with forum's help (yours).
Thanks

PS: Will you have some vacancy to spend in the South of France for summer???
