I woke up this morning as the missus turns the TV to the national news and all I can hear the news blaring about is J'Lo's divorce and how they are going to be interviewing her husband next....

WHO THE FUCK CARES ?!?!?!?!?!

This shit does not belong on the national morning news, it belongs in a cheap rag like the enquirer along with alien sightings and diet fads. This only furthers my opinion that the media is full of crap and that they do what they can to brain wash the American public. J'Lo's divorce simply does not belong on the morning national news. The lowering of America's mentality and morality continues.....

BINGO BABY!!!

but look at the declining average IQ! and the dumbing down of the edjemakshunal goals......

kids can't even sign a damn check.....much less balance a checkbook/reconcile a bank statement.....

anyone even understand a P & L anymore??

so what's on TV is typical, feeding the brain dead masses,......

the PROGRESSIVES have won.....

:hissyfit:

The only thing worse is when some dipshit "actor" volunteers their opinion about issues or politics. WTF?

J'Lo is getting divorced ???? Really ???? How could I miss that ??? Turning on the news right now.....

Don't blame this on "progressives"---if anything blame it on your conservative mega-corporations who know thay can feed the populace worthless, even poisonous, but endorphin releasing fodder of all kinds. From fast food to entertainment. They know that a very significant section of the population will give them money for easy sugary empty crap and the corporations will not have to work nearly as hard to produce healthy, thought provoking fodder for consumption.
At my office, where about everyone but me is a hard-ass 'conservative' who thinks we should deport all the Mexicans and nuke the middle east and drill baby drill and nobody but nobody should have any kind of welfare at all (although everyone of them including me has undergone extremely expensive medical treatment for maladies they did or did not incure through their own actions--but they took the insurance money and the paid time off nonetheless)--They will sit around for hours when they have work that they are supposed to be doing to earn the wage they are being paid talking about "Dancing With The Stars" or a football game or "CSI ButFuk".

Don't even blame the "progressives" --Blame the big corporations who provide people who are too easily mesmerized by flashing colored lights what they want for a price. And the who people lap it up and can't wait to buy more. Thinking is too hard--just give me mindless drivel to occupy my time--I'll pay you handsomely for it and you can own me too.

If people have 10 minutes to lose, I recommend watching this :

It may sound granola to some, but even with the environmental stuff set aside, the problem exposed should call to any concerned people, whatever the political colors.

And it's not like they didn't try before, check this article:

Even back in the early 70's when a TV shop manager and head tech for the operation, I had the thought that they should ban all TV/radio transmissions from 9 am to 6 pm every day....back then a typical color TV too 600 watts to run...some closer to 800, and that heat was fought by the a/c systems...taking another 1200 or so to carry the load....so like keeping a couple electric irons running every day ALL day.....

shit, here today what with the elder care rut we in, we burn the sat TV box, it runs warm at about 100 watts, then the sound amp another 50 watts, then the 42" LCD another 150 watts....so right there is 300+ watts burning almost 16 hours a day....giving off heat, and fought with a/c.....

:crap:

The progressives trust the government above all else. Public financing for elections, public health, public education, public television, public transportation. All things where profit or providing a good service is not a consideration. Look where it has gotten us....massive debt.

I only believe in the free market. What we have now is not nearly a free market. We have a government controlled market. Yes the corporations use the government to their advantage, corporate welfare, favorable legislation, etc. That is why we need less government, much less.

Government with lots of power is corrupt just like anything else. Let the people keep their money and decide were to spend it. Why let the government take it and decide who to give it to, whether it is foreign aid, the UN, bank or business bailouts, non essential wars, or funding for no to low cost what ever.

I agree with this completely. Stop sending your dollars to a government that does not function as it should. Keep your money for your own needs, the government is NOT looking out for you or your best interests.

How many of you believe that you will collect social security one day? And you are still paying into that scam........

There must be moderation and compromise (that is, the understanding even if not agreeing with differing veiwpoints) in all things.

"Anarchism: 1) The theory that all forms of government interfere unjustly with individual liberty and should be replaced by the voluntary association of cooperative groups."

"Communism: 1) Any economic theory or system based on the ownership of all property by the community as a whole."

"Plutocracy: 1) Government by the wealthy. 2) A group of wealthy people who control or influence a government."

"Socialism: 1) Any of various theories or systems of the ownership and operation of the means of production and distribution by society or the community rather than by private individuals, with all members of society or the community sharing in the work and the products."

Anarchism may sound like a wonderful idea at the moment, but do you honestly want to live in a reality of "Road Warrior?" There will always be someone bigger and stronger than you who will take what you have.

Plutocracy, well that's what we have now and it is promoted & fed to the public under the corporate advertising 're-labeled' idea of "freedom of choice" --anarchy.

Those two go hand in hand in the brutal survivalist reality of human nature--"The strong will survive. The weak will perish. Fuck YOU, I'm gettin' mine."

Communism may be an ideal for some, but the reality is that it can only be an ideal, never mature into a reality. "Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others." And the truth is, not everyone is equally deserving.

Socialism is a pretty good compromise, a 'relaxing' of communism, but still it stifles creativity and drive of the individual for reward.

These two match in idealism, but the anachists --no, the plutocrats, using the anarchists to their own ends--will just kick their asses and enslave them.

There must be compromise & moderation.

We all benefit & are allowed the ability to improve the lot of ourselves and others because of the 'socialist' things like municiple (safe!) water supply, sewage treatment, electrical grid, road systems, national defense, etc. We pay some alms from our earnings to the communal group and the sum of all of our contributions adds up to help us all in ways we could not achieve individually thus freeing us from the chains of day to day survival and allowing us the potential to achieve greater things .

Yet without freedom of individual thought & action, the desire to improve ones fortune even at risk of failure, there would be no impetus to explore & risk.

That's what makes this human race what it is--the willingness to take risks for the chance of the betterment of ourselves and our offspring.

But you really can't work hard to build a better future if you die from cholera from drinking water from a well contaminated by the shit from a pox infected cow. You can't even devote your thoughts to the ideas that could improve your future while you are in agony shitting your guts out and puking until you die while your children freeze & starve from the potato famine.

We rightfully or not complain about the response to the Katrina de jour (at this moment Irene, but what about the wildfires & earthquakes & floods & etc. etc.) Do you know what happened in Galveston in 1900? Jeez, you would not want to have been there. But we as a society now reap the benefits of the lessons learned and enacted by that tragedy. Do you appreciate the National Weather Service? What are you, a socialist? Do you know the history of the Cuyahoga River? Jeez, look it up next time you want to bash the EPA. Hell the gold mines here in Colorado have decimated tens of thousands of acres and destroyed groundwater forever before the EPA stopped it.

But of course, the eternal problem which brings about the downfall of so many civilisations, is that the 'communal top' ie, the government becomes so top heavy and self-serving a beaurocracy--a plutocracy--that it destroys that which it was originally intended to help.
I ain't got the answer for that one. If I did, I'd kick your ass & take your shit for mine.

Ther must be compromise & moderation in all things. Individual determination needs to be supported by communal contribution.
That seems to be a lost concept in these times, and we shall all suffer for it. Our children most of all.

Enough, I'm tired. Good night.

And despite that rant...

And while writing it, this song comes to mind, still one of my top all time favorites I sing to myself often to this day...

I will NEVER compromise with a PROGRESSIVE/commie/socialist/fascist.....

I would, however enjoy blowing their brains out all over the pavement, then shitting down their neck....

Last time I looked, our gov. was an anarchy. They came along in the form of the IRS, audited me, convicted me and took my money all the while trying to tell me how wonderful and correct they are. They exceeded the time limit for the audit and asked me for an extension. When I said no they said that they would simply convict me on all counts if I did not let them continue with the audit. So I am guilty before I am innocent. Fuck them. The emotional stress was enough to put me in the fucking hospital. It was so much fun that I decided to shut my business down and stop working for them. Next time they come around I'll have a nice shotgun waiting. Fuck the government, I can't afford to work for them anymore, nor do I want to when they stack the rules they way they do. Let them support themselves and pay for their own fucking mistakes.:smash:

LONG LIVE JOE STACK AND HIS AIRPLANE!!!!!!!!

It's always somebody . . .

. . . . and that somebody is always Someone Else. As in, it's Someone Else's fault, or, Someone Else should do something (or not be able to do something).

While I would agree that money screws up the election of public servants, it's people who cast the votes.

I agree with "compromise and moderation". There us no "us vs. them" -- the government is us. The problem is that government is used to force values onto everyone.

It used to be that having the ability to make choices and achieve things for yourself was valued. Now, it seems like people want to have Someone Else do that, so if it goes wrong they can have someone other than themselves to blame. People just don't want to accept the consequences when a choice that they made doesn't work out the way they wanted it to.

Oh, what were we talking about . . . that's right, Jenny on the Block. Now that she's single, I wonder if I have a shot?

Just because the media is there doesn't mean you have to pay attention to them. We already know how to ignore commercials; why can't that be applied to other things, like political ads, or even whole shows or even a media outlet?

Sorry, it's a little warm this afternoon, and I'm thinking it's about time for a cold beverage and a nap, so I'm having trouble producing cohesive thoughts of more than a sentence or two.

That might be the case for you (and I) but alas it's not the case if you take a (any) nation as a whole. If it was true, advertisement would be long gone.
Ads can fuck your brain without even you paying attention.
The more you know about human brain the more you realize that most of the time people goes in "cruise control" mode, unknowingly, relying on archaic mechanisms of the brain.
The actual part of real conscious actions is small, and most of the time wrong, because we suck at taking decision due to of that thing called emotion.
Advertisers, PRs, marketing strategists, politicians all know that all too well.
It's their dark force, the pathos.

One simple example : prices all being somethings99.99, I mean, come on, isn't it like treating consumers as idiots?
I don't want to be subliminally told that it's cheaper that it is, because it's a lie.

Personal rule :
Unless I asked for it, if the media talks to my emotions rather than to my brain, I'm know I'm being someone's bitch.
