Little garage overhaulin

Ok here we go again.

I cut the outer frame of the old oven and extended it so it would fit in the opening of the new frame

Started with this.


And it will go there.


I then made some extension using old parts from the oven.
I cut the parts to size and tacked them into place.



Checked to see how this fits with the two tubs halves.


Next, I'll extend the inner box to size and probably tacked it to the frame I just made.
This will make it a bit more sturdy.



Ok ok the welds arnt pretty and I dont care.

Ok got to put the powder coat oven aside a bit and work on the cabinets,

Last couples of days were pretty humid and it didnt help the painting of the cabinet doors.

Today, I finally installed them.

I put the hinges on top of the doors and since I have pretty good gravity here, they close by themselves.





A little different than what I started with huh??




I couldnt install one of the doors because I messed up the measurments.
Made it the same size as the opening...
But it's not a waste since I'll use it somewhere else.

Yesterday I noticed that I screwed up on one of the doors of the upper cabinet.
All painted up and hinges installed... what to do?
Well why not another storage cabinet...

I will leave the open cabinet as it is, just put a shelf or two.

I was looking at an old homade table made of 3/4 inch plywood that I use all the time when I work in the garage.
I dont even know where it's from or how I got it.






We also use it for bar-b-ques so we kind of need it but it's almost 8 feet long and a pain in the rear to store when not needed.

Tonight, I was putting it aside to get the bikes in I noticed it would fit right under my workbench.



Wasnt too sure yet how I would cover the stored engine hoist until I had a HUMMM moment.

The table was about 3 inches too long and 3 inches too wide to fit under the wookbench.

Sooo the table was cut to size.



I was wondering why sparks were flying around as I was cutting wood!!!



I made this temp, piece using hooks to see if my little plan would work
View fron under the workbench, the hooks will grab the front panel of the workbench.



Then, using the great gravity I have here, it just fell into place and voila...
I have now a place to store the table and a cover for the bottom of the workbench.



Now, It's just a matter of making a better looking cover and make better hooks for it.

OK today I worked on the compressor cabinet.
I want to put in some grills to let it breathe and hide it at the same time.

I also put in the 2 speakers in there.
I'll work on the airlines later.
Before I painted the interior of the cabinet flat black so no reflections would show thru the grills.

Made them about an inch bigger than the opening and they are held from the back using coupled of screws and washers





Bought some grills that are normaly used on suspended ceiling lighting system, they are chrome and easy to cut.



Then, came the door and the compressor cabinet is pretty much finished.

Ok today I didnt do too much,
Seems like the work in the garage takes forever so today was more of a clean up day.
I put back the tools where they are supposed to go, The powder coat oven, even if not finished is where it will belong.
I got rid of the crap that was all over the place, (pieces of wood, steel, tiles etc) and broomed vaccum everyting.

It's encouraging to see the plan starting to fall into place.





Note that I installed a few hooks for the motorcycle jack under the cabinets.


I did find what to store in the little cabinet I made yesterday.


Couples of hooks and the jack is out of the way, still not sure if I'll make a door for it.


Oh and I made a door for the little cabinet and installed the urinal, made a few holes in the tiles for the support, next is to hook up the drain and water supply.
I installed it temporary because I still have to grout the tiles.

I used to live in Montreal and no garage for 25 years.
When we bought this house, the garage was the no 1 reason for me to move.
No garage , no move.

I really like the jack hanger cubbyhole. I have the same jack, and it seems like I'm always tripping over it.

Ok so after grouting the tiles, I installed the urinal with the automatic flush for the last time.

And for the first time in about 5 years, the ''used beer disposal unit'' finally works very well!

Also installed the soap dispenser.
This area is almost done!





Getting there one piece at a time.

Started to cover the plywood, I didnt trim the corner because they will be covered with some aluminium angles.
These angles will protect the corners from damages.


Little water spigot door was done, the top will get the same hardwood as the upper trim later.

OK a little more tonight,
I wanted a place for the ever important fire extinguishers.
So I built a little shelf for it near the entrance of the house.



Fit just right in there



not far from the entrance of the garage just in case



Got 2 more , one for the workbench area and one for the lathe area.


More on that later feel lazy today but I'll have to get going again, the floor guys are coming on Oct 4th to lay down the polyruera coating.

Never too late, I think I have one of those kitchen sprayer somewhere.
