All of these electrical speedos must be calibrated, that's when the pulse signal from the VSS is critical. I remember I got roughly 3600 pulses per mile, not enough for the Stewart Warner speedo, that needed at least 4000 pulses per mile. My speedo was 10% (400 pulses) short .... the AutoMeter speedo takes anything from 1000-200000 pulse to calibrate, pretty much anything....
With 3.08 gears in the C3 the Stewart Warner speedo might work fine, with those gears you get more driveshaft revolutions per mile than I got with my 3.55 gears
63360" = 1 mile
63360/84.82 (wheel circumference with 27" tire)= 747
747 wheel revolutions per mile
747/3.08= 242
=> 242 driveshaft revolutions per mile
242X 17 pulses per revolution (VSS signal)= 4114 pulses per mile
That's with the VSS that came with my TKO, no idea what's in the T56
As far as I remember a different VSS to make the SW speedo work was like $140 or so... since the AutoMeters are cheaper I just bought those.... the entire instrument conversion was close to $600 so that was bad enough with the cheaper AutoMeter stuff...
