Just heard on the news that (in the Netherlands) they are putting GPS monitors in cars to track how many miles you drive so that they can charge taxes based on road use. This is supposed to be done as a test, but lots of countries are considering this.

Is this true? Sounds "Big Brotherish" to me.

I think I heard that one of the states here on the left coast is considering doing that because they now claim they're not getting the same amount of gas tax revenue with so many hybrids on the road. Stupid liberals.

I agree about the big brother mentality. Pretty soon they will monitor your toilet paper usage so they can tax your flush!

I don't like the idea of anyone I don't know keeping tabs on my movements (road or bowel) - for any reason PERIOD.

Let the government add a green weenie tax to those electric cars to offset the loss in gas taxes.

It seems like now that our government has fucked itself financially into ruin they want to keep on finding ways to make us pay for it. Who bails you or me out if we screw up? We don't qualify for welfare and social security is an oxymoron. Let government cut some more spending and tell them to leave the middle class alone!

taxing whores and drugs ain't enough?

Yes, true to some degree, they were working on it but it's been put on the backburner.

@ turtle, you'd be amazed at what it taxes here, to put it in short... EVERYTHING except breathing or taking a crap....for now

This is the kind of shit that the government does and it morphs into something else. If they do this with GPS, they wouldn't need any more traffic cops. GPS reports your speed to a computer that issues you a ticket.

Monitoring your toilet paper might be a more sophisticated technology :D

As most of you FLORIDA guys know, insurance shopping every couple of years is just a mess, putting the policy out for bids....even at Florida MINIMUM which is only 10/20 the rates are about 3x even Maryland....

SO....every spring I go insurance shopping, advantage, to spread out the payments rather than every damn thing coming due in May....

so the other trick is.....I get a lower bid from another company, and so that dirty RAT company PROGRESSIVE...comes back and wants to put a monitor into the OBDII plug....for maybe a 30% discount....woopie doo....

well that would be ~200 bux/year....doubtful, they offered this dodge to save an immediate switch to the other company for a 150 bux/year lower premium...

PIA...I let them monitor my wife's car...granny drives like SLO, and dunno what a rear slick even IS...much less SPIN one....

car driven 95% by her....

:rofl::rofl:s

I suspect they not going to offer much if any discount...so

I just maybe switch anyway...for another company less anal....

What's really 'F'ed up is the $8000 tax credit for the Chevy Volt....

Taking a crap- They ARE taxing you there!!! In my County when you sell your house you have to update it w/ toilets that use 1.6 gallons- you know, the ones you have to flush at least twice....

AND now they are getting ready to tell us what light bulbs we can use...

We have sewage and waste disposal taxes so I was wrong, taking a crap is taxed. Leaves only breathing.

I'll be in serious trouble. Everytime my wife and daughter take a leak, they roll up enough paper on their hands to make it look like a football.:club:

Going a bit off topic....

Talking about toilet paper technology.....

A couple of years back I was repairing a leaky toilet and every time I walked into the bathroom faint music started playing. It started to freak me out after a while - I could not locate the source. Finally I figured out that it was coming from INSIDE the toilet paper holder :twitch: Talk about some weird shit.....

It's called the Maut and Germany already does this with the long haul trucks (LKW) It sucks!

The Libtards here in the U.S. are trying to get the EPA to classify CO2 as a green-house gas. Then they will try to tax CO2 emitters. They are called Humans. Time to vote the Libtards out of office.

Yeah, probably three or four times at least. When I moved into my present house in 1992, I bought two quiet flush, low boy toilets. They are 5 gallon flush toilets. Paid $800 each for them...serious coin for 1992...even now. When I leave this house, I will remove them and take them with me.

After 5 gallon flush toilets were banned in the US, there was a time you could buy them in Canada, so people would drive there, buy one, and drive it back to the US. Don't know if 5 gallon toilets are still legal in Canada.

Odd comment about toilets, as I just a couple daze ago changed the one in the master bath, it's a small 4' shower with common wall to the hall bath we totally overhauled some years ago....hell bath works fine, only thing was this constant battle with that stupid toilet in the master...so I finally bought a 1.3 gallon LONG throat American Standard Cadet 3....has a flapper valve about twice the diameter and I had seen similar designs in action before, and some plumbers said they do work fine.....so 135 bux later in it went....

even a turd with floating CORN is down at one shot, and quietly too.....

:crap::drink::nuts:
