MrVette where are the pics ????

hahah....thanks for the laugh....got the paint on the car and so am not in a good mood...tired....

:ill::confused::confused:

Worked all day yesterday getting car assembled, today is the front grill/bumper, headlights, etc and rear bumpers, windows and door locks...I should have just taped up the windows but could not get that chrome strip outside off the plastic and part of that area needed work anyway , slowly granny very slowly.....

too many runs in the paint...some buddies say its no sweat, maybe for them, but not ME....I don't like anything about this job....the hood sux, the back deck sux....the top hatch sux....only thing that turned out 1/2 assed ok is the filling in of the door locks...I guess it can be fixed, not the first runs in car paint, just yet more shit....going to drive it the way it is for a LONG time, maybe come fall I will try something on it....too God DAMN hot and humid for much activity, was feeling chest pains yesterday....drank some beer felt better, ;):amazed:

when I settle down and get it together enough for pix I will post some....

i'ts coming along, but the H&H is too much barely tolerated untill about 2pm, then the sun is over the garage door, and after that, fuggetaboutit....

tmrw I actully have some MONEY work for a friend....woopie doo...

maybe by end of the week....

pictures not worth a shit anyway....can't tell jack diddly.....even now I can take a certain angle the thing looks like a show car....

take it from another angle and it sux.....

it's a 20-20 car that's reality....

:surrender::eek:

green is green is green......just quit pretending and come out of the closet, Gene. We'll all still love you, you big ol' tofu & bean sprout lover, you!
(Where's that group hug smiley when you need it anyway?)

:surrender::eek:

One does wonder though if you would have had better results if you had spent more time preping?

The world will never know....

First time in my life I ever painted a whole car of any type, I was hoping for a 5-5 car, got a 20=20 car...oh well, I come here/there for relax a minit between attacks....don't have the energy to go at that crap straight on for hour after hour....

and there are now 4 other vehicles fixed for mechanicals in there too....

so a few days, actually one was over a month getting back to the vette....

:harhar::noob:

3 pix is it now....

Looks fine from here. Rub it out in a few days. It'l look fine Gene.

I was going to say the same thing.

Rubbing one out is her department.....

thanks for the encouragement, I know the 1/2 dzn runs and 4-5 drips can be sanded out, but not by me....then I know I will have to reshoot where some tiger striped show....

but the terminal execution is the filler where the grills were removed from the back deck, and the headlight fillers still have that damn seam showing from side to side, but not up/down.....then there is that damn thin hood bulge....that needs be done in flat black, maybe the deck around the grill fillers too,

NONE of this crap showed or was felt with the primer on the car, I"M convinced the extra 'chemistry' of what was supposed to be urethane but I dunno one from another, this shit is much softer than any urethane I have done in the past, and takes a lot longer to cure....so I know there is no buffing out anything, and that don't bother me one bit, I figgered on orange peel look anyway, and know I"m doing NOTHING about it....WTF even new cars have that, so leave it....

I will open a new thread about the paint and supplier.....sux....

That's going to be a huge challenge to rub that out. Would have been a lot easier just to rough it up with 400 and go over it one more time. Looks like he used a fast/medium reducer in the 90+ degree heat down there.

Its a matte finish just like mine. Looks like green primer. A rat rod.

Now is the time to buff before it gets too hard. Hit it with 1000, 2000 and buff with compound and than polish. You will be amazed on how great it will look. Tip that i can give u for the next time (and I know u said there won't be LOL) is wet the primer with wipe down cleaner and it will look like clear coat on it so that you can get and idea how the paint will look when applied over it. Hey, but not bad! I seen Macco paint jobs a lot worst.

I did go over it with 400 on the rubber block about 8-10" long and 3" wide, wet sanded it, looked slick as hell, I knew the hood was still irregular, but figgered on flat black as it showed nothing being flat primer gray....

but that back deck is what pisses me off, that thing was absolutely flat, now something happened and it looks like dawg....friggin' chemistry, shit ever acts the way it's supposed to....

IF there is ever another paint job....Like I going to try on the little red Miata for the wife....shown in one pix there.....I"m going to scuff it up, and paint it with WATER BASED PAINT, a nice thick heavy goop like latex for a house type thick...bury that defect shit nice and heavy/deep....

Wet primer shows reflections just like clearcoated paint.
