New d_b dog pile in the making

I don't know about some of his suggestions, but the one he came up with regarding installing led lights and painting the white behind the gauges was right on. I followed his suggestions on my 80 and my 81 and it works great. With out changing the gauge faces my gauges are bright as as can be, following his pictures and suggestions.

I wouldn't even give him that much credit. Bet anything it was someone else's idea.

Maybe but I have not seen anyone do it before him. OK, WTF is "Blind squirrel theory."

Never heard of em, but as always, if you got pics we wanna see em!

Old Model A stuff, mostly, though both brands made carbs for other manufacturers. I think the 54 GMC 2-ton COE that my dad and I have in the garage has a Zenith updraft or sidedraft on it. I'll be visiting the fam this weekend, I'll get some pics of the Zenith I rebuilt for his AA stakebed truck.

Oh jeez....The Silly Tilly on the '66 Harleys---sounded good on paper, only lasted one year in production.
Zenith sounds familiar to me from motorcycles too, it may have a precursor to the Bendix. Or maybe Zenith made Bendix--I think that's it.
Ah and we will always a soft spot in our hearts for the venerable Linkert. May not have a 'power' carb, but they always started easy & ran dependably.

And since I am finally allowing myself to post on this thread, I will say I used to always paint the inside of the taillight buckets of my old bikes & trucks with semi-gloss white paint. It made the taillight noticeably brighter.

I did just that last year with my '71 Skylark convertible. The results were quite noticeable. All the old silver reflective paint had faded away.

How about MARVEL carbs? I just rebuilt one- what a treat that was.

I redid a MARVEL-SCHEBLER updraft carb about 20 years ago on a forklift I've got. Haven't touched it and still runs great.
The needle stuck a while ago after not using it for a month or so, but I wacked it with the handle of a big screwdriver and it's fine.
