Quieting the exhaust PIPES?

We're finally in a warm spell this week, in the 60's today. I started up the car this afternoon, and two observations. The four year old 5# lithium battery, despite sitting for the past five months without any trickle charge, cranked the engine over just fine. I continue to be rather impressed with it.

Second, despite the engine being cold blooded during the first several minutes of operation, there was a noticeable improvement in the vehicle noise level. While this car will never be mistaken for a Cadillac when sitting inside it, a lot of the tinniness and rough noise spikes is seriously reduced. I'm pleased with the improvement, and I think I'll use the remaining length of the insulating tape on the nearby bare pipes.

I hope and suspect the system will quiet down another notch via a smoother idle when I get the intake manifold plenum divider welded back in this spring.

I need to switch to lithium for my mower, motorcycle and truck. All of these get infrequent use or zero use during the winter and once a month I do a "battery charging day" to keep them from lot rot.

What is the battery you used?

I've got two lithium batteries presently, AntiGravity brand. A 5.7# 880 CA in the Corvette, and a 1.4# 150 CA in my perpetually disassembled Triumph 900 cc bike. These batteries seem to have minimal self discharge rates. And the nice thing is, when (not if) I forget to turn off an electrical load (like the lights or the heated WBO2 meter) the internal BMS will shut off the battery before it gets too low to crank over the engine This system has saved my bacon several times.

I have an antigravity atx20 Restart battery that I bought for my rover v8 powered openwheeler nearly 6 years ago. It has since moved to my Harley, and then to my MG Midget. Love it, weighs nothing, heaps of grunt, and the restart function is worth the price of admission alone. Great batteries!
