Clueless In Sandland
Sorry for your loss Geoff, I feel for you mate. I was only talking to Christine tonight how we are asinine to think we ever "own" a dog - they're a part of our family who we love and cherish like any other member of our family. The fact that we have to assist them in opening cans and topping up their water bowl etc does not make us their "owners".
I can't remember where, but I read something a while ago that went something like - "dogs come up to us looking for a pat that they know we need and that they want". Quite true I reckon.
Two years ago we adopted Buddy when he was retired from his job as an explosives sniffer. He's 11 now, going on 4! After such a serious and regimented working life, now he just lives for games and affection. Of course, the affection is a two way street and the Buddster gives as good he gets
Grieve for your old pal Geoff but adopt a new friend too
