Hurricane Sandy's here. Lot's of wind and rain, some intermittent power losses but nothing serious. I've been watching the weather and the TV most of the day, not much else you can do....
There's a bird feeder out back full of bird seed being mobbed - it's amazing how these little guys can fly in such gusty winds. I woulda thought they would be hunkered down too.
TV says lower Manhattan is flooding. Con Ed has pulled the plug for safety reasons. :crap:

They showing a entire building face that came down, and so all the apartments are open to the weather, looking at furniture,.....

and a construction crane up maybe 90? stories got all bent over and focked up and over backwards....and so they clearing upper stories of major buildings and waiting till the shit is over, and wondering how in HELL they going to get that damn thing down.....whole new engineering feat to pull THAT one off, should see the pix....do a search on FOX news....

I thought it was a hype, but it's no bullshit.....

this shit is MAJOR.....and makes me wonder.....but that's another thread...for another time....

She's here in full force... No power since about 6pm. Lots of trees down and major flooding. Thankfully I live on top of a hill. My shop should be ok from the flooding but I don't know how well the roof will hold up with all this rain and wind. Fingers crossed! Good luck east coasters!

freeking Unbelieveable week it was.....I left early as the assignments were not for me, but my welder buddy stayed on for 3 months.....

I saw some pictures of water running into the NYC subway system- probably first time that place has been washed since it was built.

You guys in the northeast keep your head down until this blows over. I'm thinking of you.
 
It's the morning after here. I got off real easy. No water in the basement. No serious power loss. No damage to the house. I could see electrical transformers lighting up the sky last night. The wind was blowing pretty strong, first out of the north, later it switched to the south. Today is mostly calm with light rain.
Whew!

Yeh, no shit, still the only way I hear of my daughter in Baltimore is through talking to my son, and he was on the Google chat with their mother, and so no news from my ex.....which if anything was rong, it would be TOPIC ONE, so I figger she's ok.....:hissyfit: always have to go back channel to find out WTF is going on with daughter.....I guess it don't help that she and her fiance' are uber liberals/communists.....and I make Uncle Barry Goldwater look like a commie, I'm so right wing......

That was a heck of a ride - though I was in the Wizard of OZ!!!!! Power finally came back on this afternoon.

It was like going back in time - no electricity, no phones, no internet! OH KNOW - WHAT DO WE DO???

Glad all are safe!
