If Vettemod is the home of mods, there should be, sowhere, a place where all the mods are regrouped. Ordered by theme, each theme containing members' version of of mod. It could be a sticky, a forums category, whatever the admins are fine with.

Here's some mod theme proposition :

Jeep Steering box
TA Johnny Joint
4-5-6 link
Electric headlight
Coil over
Serpentine

What do you guys think?

Sorry about that Marck, just an idea that went thru my mind, I have tons of time to think these days...
NOT always a good thing LOL

Besides, I'm just trying to improve VetteMod lol. ;-P

This gonna be a collaborative effort. we need to collect the data. So if you come up with your theme idea and thread link (with post # if necessary), post them here, I'll edit the first post to reflect people input.
TT, did you tell them it was a couple of click in the admin interface? :amused:

I don't get it.

are you talking about a sub forum for each modification?

Dunno.
Some place where you could convieniently access the information.
The form of that is up to people's and admin suggestions.
As I said, something practical and not too complicated for TT.

are you talking about a sub forum for each modification?

Not sure how to phrase this, but a sub forum where we could put all write ups of mods done.

Example, how Karsten did his rear suspension, pics and description of how he did it.

On his thread, others could post how they did the same mods, viewers could compare the builds and who knows, maybe develop other ways or methods and show how they did it

Next thread could be about steering box instalation, again there are many ways to install the Jeep steering box, I think you came up with a way to install it, I came up with another method, some other might come up with something else.

Next thread could be anything as long it's a modification done on the Vette.

Hard for me to explain ... and write LOL

Search button or downloads section? :surrender: :drink:

Not long ago I was looking for how to access and pull out the birdcage, searched all over and didnt find much on all vette forums.

IF every mods is at the same place, this could bring more people to VetteMod for reference instead of a bit here and a bit on other forums.

Another example, If I want to change the seats of the car and use C4 or C5 seats, theres many ways to do it and with time maybe 3 or 4 will come up with theire write ups on how they did it.

If I come to vette mod and they are all at the same place, much easier to find and decide how I will do it.

Hey it's just an idea...

sounds like a good idea.... re-grouping threads by topic - not necessarily the topic the thread got when the original poster started it .... it does however sound like we're just doing the search function for the user who is looking for the info....
If for example you're looking for info on seats: put "seats" in the search engine and it will show you all threads with the topic "seats".... you can choose if you want to search for the word "seats" in the title or the entire thread....

I know that for some strange reason many people just don't use the search function.... for those and the lazy (like myself) a few sub-forums might be a good idea....

might be easier to ask the builders to pull something that interests others out of their build threads and make a specific thread for that portion of the build.

Or

in the more work category, have an admin who pulls out good ideas and showcases them on an entry page (the idea like bangshift does with their articles) with appropriate tags so Google recognizes them for what they are.

Or.

Ask for contributions to an idea - start a thread for each idea - e.g. the Jeep steering box and have people who've done the build post up pictures and articles on how they did it

there... my ideas are done, what I need is an idea on how to convince my wife to do something kinky for me - e.g. her sanding my current project with me watching :) (oh baby, I love it when you move like that....)

Nope, it's not a search function, it a directory service, like yahoo's. Stuff would be organized by theme, hierarchically.
For instance there would be a seat mod section in the interior section. Inside you'd find:
-A single discussion thread, where people would post what seems relevant to them, like a C5-C6 mod, or a fiero seat mods.
-A list of "symbolic links" to the threads have a been deemed worth adding to the list. This list would be refresh once in a while after users decided a list of link to propose to the admin.

Surely search would work (unless you're looking for LED or HEI), but it's for the convenience.
You'd discover mods you wouldn't even have thought about.
You'd probably save a couple of newbie question, and it would make the most of all knowledge contained down there.

If I understand your intent, the "Tech" tab at the top was supposed to be a "how it was done" article resource. It worked out well a while but I'm not sure many go to it or even know about it these days.

I think I get what you are saying but not really sure how to make articles more accessible.

You're right, the tech section partially fit the bill. But what's posted in it are articles, not post, meaning people may feel intimidated putting incorrect info, or simply detered by the hassle of reformating their post in an "article" shape.
The difference may be only psychological, but that's how I feel it.
If you could just put thread symlink, there's no need to care about the presentation, it's just about making more visible existing thread.
A "mod" section would probably allow more bubbaing and whackiness, but it's ok, we're all mod wackos.
