I have looked all over, I am sure that someone has done this, I am contemplating it myself. Not sure if there is enough room for twins and an intercooler. Anyone have pics to share or first hand knowledge? thanks

Long long time ago in a land far far away, an attempt was made to do just that, and the owner hasn't been the same since......:harhar::devil:

what mental hospital can I find him in or is he better now, so that I can ask him a few questions?

I bet Gene is talking about the "flying dutchman". Except, i believe his is an 82

'Flying DutchmEn.....Marck and Xander....Netherlands....

otherwise known as TT here...Twin Turbo.....

he had it all together, but seems to have lost interest, it's about the wildest car out there, certainly one in the race for top 5 anyway....:clap::yahoo:

the only real problem I see is getting it under the hood. I want the car to appear stock, with the exception of wheels. I am starting with a very minty 79 L 48. I have been looking at an intke something like an EFI spyder to handle the fuel and keep in under the stock hood. Measurement wise it seems to work out. Intercooler mounted low in front of the rad. Open up the lic. plate holder to give it some air, seems very doable and radical as hell I know. I have been up in the air over doing a supercharged 5.3 LS engine in it or putting twins on a built 350 that is sitting in the shop. It has a 10.0-1 compression ratio and all billet internals. Pretty much ready to go with ported and polished heads, should be in the area of 400 hp without the twins, with them I have no idea. Would make for one hell of a ride I think.

Couple of remarks :

- TT radically changed the front of his car.
- I don't think there is enough room on the side of the engine to put the turbo, so this only leaves the front of the engine, but there you will soon run into the A-arms
- the intercooler can be mounted in front of the rad, but you will have problems opening the hood and for example an intercooler is a pretty thick radiator.
- 10/1 CR with a turbo is way to much imo.

Without some serious mods, I don't think it is possible within the constraints of keeping the car original as much as possible. If yours is a mint car. I suggest selling it, buying a cheaper project that you can mod all the way.

Just my .02$

the manifolds that i was using as a guidline put the turbos just forward of the engine. If not there then I was thinking of mounting them on custom headers that place them near the firewall on the bottom of the engine. Looks like plenty of room there, like I said this is still in the "let's discuss phase". I have not jumped into buying parts other than those i already have on hand. Maybe supercharging an LS would be easier...........

If someone can twin turbocharge or even single turbocharge a C4 vette a C3 shouldn't be a problem :D

Actually the C4 us easy like callaway did it. Biggest hurdle is the scavenge pump for the low mounted turbos draining in a collection sump. He had a nifty ones that mounted in place of the tensioner.

As for my car, that whole TT stuff actually fits in a stock engine bay under the stock hood with everything stock installed including the mc and brake booster. The radical mods in the front are for the suspension and the huge radiator but mostly for the suspension. If not for that insanity I'd have it done by now ;)

How many guys can set their engines on a ORIENTAL RUG???

:p:shocking::hissyfit::gurney:

Before that the rug was there to soak up oil stains :D

Got a couple of them WIFE's cats insisted on pissing on, from my folks house yet...must be 50 years old....

rolled them up for the next generation of cats.....

What about that guy from somewhere in the midwest?... He has a pretty stock looking 72 big block with twin turbos.
And then there is another guy (goes by Show on some of the forums) with a twin turbo small block... C4 suspension and a custom tilt front end. I think the car was called HammerHead.

twin where did you come by a manifold that short? I was looking at headers with turbo flanges welded to them. that looks stock off of something.

custom 1 off piece, just like the log manifolds.

The intake resembles a moon crossram but it isn't/ In the first couple of pics the carbs are missing.

Marck

In that pic with the engine in the frame, isn't the motor kinda far forward? I wouldn't think the firewall would take up all that space.
