Website identifying non paying customers

Like I said, I like the idea but it would be hard to do.
It kind of reminds me of fleabay. Years ago, I purchased a set of pistons on there and the douche that sent them didn't pack them for shit. When they showed up one was cracked on the skirt. I don't know if it was shipped that way or UPS. Either way, I told the seller and they told me they would refund my money. So I sent them the pistons back and they told me to piss off. No refund, no pistons. So I left feedback (140 characters, or whatever gheyness ebay does) and then the asswipes turn around and leave me bogus feedback.
So that makes it a little difficult, and it's just like others have stated. It would almost take a moderator to hear the two arguments and make a judgement. I think that's what Angie's List does but I've never tried it.

They also need a web-site for DEAD BEAT contractors, you know it works both ways, there are plenty of contractors who take your money and do half assed work, and dont come back and make it right,or just plane fail to finish the job.
I am sure there are plenty of people in this world that have been screwed over by contractors.

Here in NJ they make you pay for all sorts of licenses to "protect the consumer" from contractors like that but they do nothing to enforce the laws. If you want justice you have to pursue it yourself. Everyone gets screwed except the state. I personally take no up front money unless I have to special order materials (usually replacement windows).
I have no problem with a website for deadbeat contractors. My issue is with the people who brazenly rip off honest hard working people. They need to be EXPOSED.

Yep, there's varmit customers and varmit contractors. Here in California the contractor problem is probably fly-by-night contractors that use illegal immigrants. One tactic to underbid is not get building permits and of course use illegals instead of union workers.

We have it here for Florida, but a better name could have been used.

One thing that does work here if you are a legal contractor is to file a lien.

The lien itself is almost useless, but send a copy of the paperwork to the mortgage holder and 99.9% of the time it will get results. Not paying on debts on the property violates most mortgages and the bank or whoever can call in the note immediately in full. It's usually enough to get results for little or no expense. Everything is public record.

And the added bonus is that the lien filed is also public record FOREVER and plays hell with future credit, financing etc etc.
It can affect litlle things like the car loan interst amount, all types of insurance premiums etc.
There are 2 sides to all this. :yahoo:

:crap: Hate to tell you this, but chased a lying ex business partner through BK court here, he even lied on his BK application, and that lien I had on his house was tossed out, he kept his house, and a MONTH later sold it.....

moved back in with his ex wife...AFAIK.....one day I will get that SOB, along with another guy.....they both know full well the next time they see me will be the LAST.....

:crutches:

It does work both ways, and the real crooks--on both sides--know how to manipulate the system.
A friend in Reno, Nv., once framed a mansion for a lawyer. OK, big red flag right there (lawyer). Anyway, a 11,000 sq ft house on acreage, multi level, etc. Deal was 3 draws, when 40% complete, 80% complete, and complete. First 2 draws went OK. but when the job was complete and they asked for the final payment, the lawyer said he wasn't going to pay them. They offered to fix anything that was wrong or whatever, but the lawyer said that they didn't understand. There was nothing wrong, he just wasn't going to pay them. So, of course, 1 of the partners who happened to be a big goon proceded to threaten him. Go ahead said the lawyer. Not only will you not get paid, but I'll have you arrested and imprisoned for a couple of years, I'll sue you and evict your family from their house, etc. And, if you sue me, I'll drag it out for years.

Sounds like LAUSD.:D

Yep, we at the school district are SPECIAL!! Labor and material liens don't apply to us. So, just keep voting for the school bonds so that I will get my pension, and the little bastar----I mean, darlings, get a education, or at least a diploma just for showing up some of the time.
