What mirrors to use?

I'm really thinking about swapping out the mirrors on my car when I do bodywork. I like the "bullet" style mirrors that came on the car but I do have a problem with how short the stalk is. If I could get a taller stalk, I would probably go that route. But since I haven't seen such a thing, I've been looking at various cars in traffic to see if I can find a style I think would suit the c3 body and still raise the mirror (and maybe position it off the door just a little further as well) a couple inches.
So what have you guys seen or thought about?

Check out vitaloni mirrors, Xander has them on his car. I'm sure they make something w/ a longer stalk.

I put bubble mirrors on all my rides, and use the bullet mirrors as my favorite setup, because they don't stick out there to get hit in parking lots, and otta adjustment every damn time.....going to put a set on the Miata for just that reason.....when the p/o had the chrome junk on my '72 at least they mounted them further forward on the doors, over the decades I have gotten used to bubble mirrors, and really hate driving without them...

Gene the stick on kind?

The other is one from the same manufacturer that TT suggested. I like the look of the folded SS mount. Powdercoated - cooler still. I'm watching as I will have similar challenge in a bit too. Cheers - Jim

Always liked these Talbot mirrors. Would need a longer mount to make them usefull on a C3

The mirrors are from an Olds Aurora.
I have done walk troughs in a bone yard and found a few cars with potentially usable side mirrors.

I have the vitaloni mirrors (the white ones you posted) on my car in the stock location, and they suck as far as vision is concerned. The passenger side is useless, and the divers side offers no more (maybe less!) vision than the stock ones. If you moved them closer to the front of the door they might work a bit better. They sure do look good though!

Hideous IMO

Those Aurora mirrors aren't bad, it's just the stalks are too dang fat. Same thing with the c5/c6 mirrors. Especially when compared to the A pillar, you need a slim stalk to match the thin line of the windshield frame.

Too many mirrors is my problem, i keep trying something different all the time.

The Aurora or even the C5/C6 mirrors seem to be a good compromise, they look "somewhat" ok and you can see something other than your own door in the mirror....
Personally, I like the earlier C3 style chrome mirrors ... I'd rather turn my head twice than having ugly huge rear view mirrors....

What I'm toying with now is simply having new stalks machined. I like the way the factory mirrors look but if I could get them up 1-2" and maybe leaned out about an 1", I think they would still look good and be much more functional.

My Austin Healey had the mirrors mounted out on the fenders. Once I got used to it I really liked it. I have considered a similar mounting for my car......

Alll that shit depends on your eyesight....and IMO using bubble mirrors of about 3-4" diameter should be part of driver education from word GO....

simply no way around it....ONE position for the side mirrors, and learn to WATCH the patterns in the bubbles......

just What the F is so hard about THAT??? jeebus, I been doing it for some 40 years now....not all that hard....really isn't...
