1 piece rear 350, 60 over, 9.5:1 compression, LT4 roller cam, Vortec heads, Performer intake with AFB 4 barrel, long tube headers, 2 1/4 exhaust, 1992 Camaro T-5 with 3:08 rear, hardtop on. 21 mpg highway.

Speedometer and Odometer is not currently functional in the 1975 Corvette. To test the mpg I followed my girlfriend who was driving my 2006 Ford F150 from my parents house back home. We filled both cars and drove directly home. The drive was a little over 150 miles. She lead the way and set the cruise at 75 mph. It took right around 7 gallons. I have done the trip on other occasions and by the look on the gas gauge it appears that it can actually get more mpg if the gauge is accurate. City is much different. Also, there is no engine driven cooling fan. I have an electric fan with shround from a Mercury something, looked like a Taurus. Early 90's model.

When you say AFB do you mean a real Carter or Edlebrock Performer?:bump:

15+ MPG in combination driving, I'd say 60% city, 40% highway

Sure would like a .82 TKO 600.

I have a pretty wide, flat torque band (114* LSA is good for that) so I could run wider ratios, but I like the idea of a choice of gears at any speed. From canyon carving to flat out Wyoming running. If I remember right, with the 3.36 diff, I'd have a 9.84 first gear & 2.75 top gear. That works!

I'm considering the RR tko600-mainly that I don't need a 200+mph top speed. I use all my RPM and the .87 fits my needs better. But, the price of install and the negative input I keep reading, makes me think there might be a "better" way to go.:drink:

Damn! I've always liked Forced Induction. I would think, with a little fine tuning-and keeping your foot out of it-you could get 12mpg.:suspicious:
 
I have stayed off this thread because I honestly didn't know what mileage I get.....but went on a trip to Gainsville and back, non car related, and so know I used about 7.2 gallons in 170 miles cruising at 60-80 all the way....some lights, some small town crap....

engine is a LT1 induction on L98 aluminum heads 10.5-1 comp, on a stockish '89 truck block 350 bored 30 over TRW flat top 4 brow pistons, tranny is a 200 4r with trans go kit, and a 336 rear, brakes are Oring so the car will coast outta my garage, it's just a drainage slab, nothing great....
rack steering and garage alignments by me.....275/50/17 in rear and 255/50/17 in front...anyone can see the pix, but most of you have, I suspect...nothing new...

the car got 24.6 mpg on the 170 mile trip above, and gets about 15-16 around town, IF I keep my toezzies out of the air valve....

I drive top down, most ALL the time....I put on my funky sailing hat with chin strap, wife HATES it, cause it's not 'cool'.....at age 64 I"m entitled to look wacky....f'em all.....

I am using a newer stye Edelbrock AFB style. I am sure I could get a littel bit more mpg. I haven't even gotten this thing aligned in the 3 years I have been driving it.

Well, I dunno if I typed that correct or not....LT1 to ME is the later DPFI engine/induction not the early 70's carb thing....

I have had DPFI on there for some 13 years now, one of the first things done well before the overdrive, as I was up north then in the Wash DC region....

the only bolt on to the original L48, was the L98 setup, and so it got 24 mpg with the muncie...336 rear same in there now....

after having a hotrod 355 roller engine built, I swapped it out some 11 years ago down here, with a o/drive automatic 700 and later swapped tranny to a 200 4r which is much more suited to the car....

I currently have later aluminum L98 heads on it, and so when ditching the L98 setup I put on a highly modded LT1 intake, last winter's project....

the intake takes a LOT of modifying to get it to fit....need a lot of TIG welding, and machine work...but when done, it's SO much simpler to work with
