    Garage Storage Ideas

I was shooting some photos and got the idea to start this thread. A couple buddies like my grinder storage made with coat hanger wire. Also, check out the grease gun and cartridge storage to the right. [/IMG] I have four ralley wheels to store and they were in the way. I stacked them using...

    Improved Wire Wheel Brush?

The photo shows an improvement I have been using for quite a while on small wire wheel brushes. This one needed replacement recently and I thought to take a photo. They do make extensions that holds a 1/4 inch shank tool with two allen screws. I have one, but the large mounting area sometimes...

    2012 Corvette Z06 7.19 lap at Nurburging

Check this out, it looks like a fun ride to me, but I'd leave the driving to a professional. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20110609/CARNEWS/110609854

    Brake Bleeder My Way

Like many who frequent this message board, I need to do all work by myself. Sometimes it is a challenge, but the challenge can sometimes produce positive results. Bleeding brakes is probably at the top of the challenge list. Vacuum bleeder systems have always been disappointing, so I set out to...

Anybody Upgrade to Halo Projector Headlights?

I have seen projector headlights on race cars, but can't find units that appear to fit properly in my 79 headlight opening. Making a housing/bracket is expected, but can't seem to get started with a headlight that lends itself to mounting in the C-3 opening. Maybe someone seeing this has done...

How not to Use a Lift

Apparently, the mechanic did not place the vehicle properly on the lift, but escaped the consequences. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLTEYRGbtd8&NR=1

Method of Jacking Front of Car

I have been using a pressure treated 33 inch 4 X 4 post to raise the front of my C-3 for many years. I hand picked the post with tight grain characteristics for strength, but saw this jack accessory and had to have it. It can be found under Summit PN# SUM-918008 @ $42.95, in case anyone is...

Anybody have success grinding calipers to fit 15 X 4.5 backspace wheels?

I can have a great deal on 15 X 8 inch Weld wheels with 4.5 inch backspace. Problem is, they will hit the caliper and wondered if anyone had luck making them fit by grinding down the calipers? I prefer to not use a spacer or adapter.

Thoughts on Gear Vendor OD trans adapter?

My SBC Corvette runs hot, around 230 on the highway and is a problem. I'm in the process of planning some upgrades/mods to get this under control. An OD trans swap for my TH350 has been considered for a .67 OD gear. Another option is a Gear Vendor unit that splits all the gears, but that is no...

    Aftermarket Aluminum Radiators?

I'm in the market for a replacement of my stock copper radiator, but don't want to shell out big bucks. This is a good thread on aftermarket radiators, but thought to ask if anyone has used one successfully? There is positive testamonial here, but not for Corvettes...

    Diesel Powered 68 Vette Build

A buddy sent me a link to this diesel 68 Vette project. It isn't for everyone, but this guy did some engineering and fabricating on this project. The clam shell front is purdy cool. The car runs the 1/8th in 7.87 @ 90 MPH and gets 26 MPG. It isn't killer fast, but a 'dare to be different'...

A/C bracket solution for pancake style compressor

I couldn't find any posts using a search, so I'll ask here. My 79 350 engine has long tube headers and power accessories that use individual belts. That said, I'm going to aluminum heads and need to find another way to mount my old pancake style A/C compressor. Currently, it retains the factory...

    Race Pics Sebring Regional 6-7-09

My buddy Whitey takes some great SCCA race pictures almost every weekend. He post them on picasa for racers to copy those of their cars. I have been drooling over some of the cars in his files. On a couple of ocassions I accompanied him and I can tell you it isn't easy. Kudos to WhiteyPhoto and...

    Opinions Welcome on Profiler Heads

OK...I still haven't replaced the heads on my L-82, 79 bracket racer, for those that remember my fiasco with DB. I liked the Patriot heads my local Murray's Speed and Custom shop is selling for $877 assembled with springs supporting .580 lift. A buddy just sent me the link below as a good deal...

    Karsten's Gift TH350 Tranny Installed

Some may remember that I hurt my TH350 tranny racing my 79. It was while I was waiting for DB to send my heads and I was out $770. This was right around Christmas and in the spirit of the season Karsten offered the trans from his 79. He swapped a 5-speed in, so the auto trans was not needed. I...

    Thanks MYBAD79!!!

Thanks to a GREAT guy, Corvette enthusiast and builder, I will have my 79 back on the street and strip. For those who do not know, while waiting for a pair of heads that never came, I hurt my TH350 transmission bracket racing. Karsten, MYBAD79 had one he had taken out of his 79 in a TKO 5-speed...
