Looks like an MSD Pro billet,they do not have a vacume advance can.

Depends on which one you have. They are available with an without for chevies (they are only available without for most other brands)

I've got one w/ tach drive & vac advance right here.

i still think you are running the diagnosis of your cooling system haphazardly and are far to willing to simply throw additional parts at the problem needlessly. For example, you are still talking about a dual-Spal set-up which I don't think is really needed.

On your thread over on CF I asked you many questions regarding the current set-up on your car, including what your timing numbers are, both initial and total, and with and without the vacuum advance connected, and whether or not you were running a vacuum advance. With the exception of one, the fan clutch, you still have never answered any of those questions.

You come onto two different forums, post the same thread asking for help yet when we try to help you you don't answer the questions that are needed and still only talk about what other items you can throw onto the car to try to fix it.
Would a dual fan set-up help? sure, it may, but while it may help lower your temps, unless you find the real cause of your issue all you are doing is masking the problem, not fixxing it.

I would put money down that if you actually answered all the questions that various people have asked you on both forums instead of ignoring them you would get to the real cause of your problem and how to best resolve it, especially without having to spend hundreds of dollars doing it.

I can only answer the questions that I know the answers to. I know nothing about the timing. I was told that I can't really have it tuned properly until I fix the vacuum leaks anyway.

I'm not running vacuum advance although it is an option with my MSD distributor.

1 fix the vacuum leaks

2 buy a timing light for $15 at the Zone or the Canadian equivalent

3 adjust the timing as required

4 install all radiator seals

5 test drive

6 report status here on VM :thumbs:

I agree 100% with the above and will include adding the vacuum advance hook-up.

Just a quick question. Will a high stall torque converter affect engine temps or just transmission temps?

I'm not sure how much it adds to the engine and trans temperature but it sure doesn't help running the engine cooler.

Hey, we still don't know what distributor you have and if it has a vacuum can or not. Post some pics of that thing so that TT or Barry or others can identify the dizzy.... I know nothing about that fancy MSD stuff, my HEI Ebay dizzy works for me, so far so good....

You have such a nice engine.... is there anything special about that TH350 trans that makes you want to keep it ??? I know the price tag is a little painful but you'll be so much happier with a manual tranny and overdrive....:devil:

There is little doubt in my mind that engine has insuffecient advance, too lean, or both.

Well I checked the inferred satellite radar images over the weekend and over eastern Canada there were no unusual hot spots so I guess all is well.:blush:

I'm going to get a BeCool rad and a tune up next Spring as well as a TK0-600...electric lights as well.

Your radiator is more than likely fine once the trans cooler is gone....safe the money, do that last if you really need it.... the TKO is a great choice, by far the best mod I've done to my '79.

once again I'm just simply amazed that you are willing to throw a lot of excess money at the problem, such as an expensive new radiator, but you won't take the time to go and buy a $49.99 timing light and a $19.99 vacuum gauge to be able to answer what your timing settings and vacuum levels are to help us help you.

A new radiator may help lower your operating temps but at the same time it may also do it by masking the real problem. That's not fixing the problem, that's just overpowering it with an incorrect solution.

I've tried to make this clear on both forums but i give up now. I just don't understand people that post for help than refuse to take the suggestions that others offer. Regardless, I'm done.
