68-69 rear window storage tray

I picked up a 68-69 style rear window storage tray, looks like the early fiberboard one, question is mine is warped and I get it wet and lay something heavy on it to flatten it out? or will that ruin it? thanks in advance!!

I think it all depends on how wet. Fiberboard can be worked to an extent with steam and pressure, so maybe damp rather than dripping wet is the key. It's basically sawdust pressed together with resin and once it gets too wet and actually swells, it starts to look like oatmeal and has about the same strength as an oatmeal cookie.
