Internal Body Aerodynamics

Minimal aero, but the idea of 3D printing body part prototypes is interesting. Vette427sbc just posted some of his 3D printed prototypes in his thread. A whole new era of hot rodding is coming I guess.

Huge spoiler on the rear and the diffuser are interesting.
 
Slightly off topic, but am I the only one that thinks the flares are "poorly executed" (putting it nicely) on that car?? The wing is cool, I imagine it has to be at least that tall to give any notable benefit with how dirty the air is on the rear deck of these cars. The diffuser probably cleans up the airflow quite a bit considering the rear is almost a parachute without the spare tire up there.

Functional, might be a reasonable description. One thing about flares, cut them off and screw on some of those extra wide ones from Duntov! :)

It was a newly posted video. I kind of liked it. Figured it was more appropriate than some of the big $$ stuff in other vids I have posted ( which I can’t afford ) or at least a change.

I’m always the one telling people function is form... maybe I’m just jealous he’s driving his and I’m busy playing keyboard car designer.
Anyway, I enjoy all of the content... cool to apply the super car stuff to our cars, but interesting to see what other corvettes are actually using. He does drive the hell out of that Rambo c3

I'm with you on that. They do look added on but I suppose that is a byproduct of how big they are. However, it looks like a very nice build.

Looks like he followed the lead of Danny Popp and Brian Hobaugh with their C-3/C-2 autocross cars from a few years back - Van Steel, JRI shocks, tubular control arms, hugh spoiler, and fat tires. Both of those guys moved on to a C5 platform in recent years to compete in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge. On the video, at the end, even though it showed a little C-3 throttle oversteer, it looked pretty hooked up when he entered the highway.

I rented a Maserati Levante S for a recent road trip. It's an all wheel drive SUV with a twin turbo V6 (426 hp). There is an upgraded version with 509 hp. It has a sport mode and an off road mode. On the highway at about 75 mph you get a display message that "Aero 1 ride height has been achieved". You can feel the car lower itself and louvers in the front grill close - active aero. Seeing that there was an "Aero 1" mode, I went looking for Aero 2, but never did find it. LOL

Automatically activated at even higher speeds, it reduces the vehicle's height by 35 mm compared to the normal mode to minimise aerodynamic resistance.

I'm still working on active wings - active suspension will be a bit of an effort. Progress has slowed while trying to sell a boat!

The height adjustments also interact with the engine operation modes for the ultimate in overall efficiency. This air suspension is then combined with Maserati’s acclaimed Skyhook system, with shock absorbers featuring continuous damping variation. The basic setting prioritises comfort, whereas for a more dynamic drive, the shock absorbers stiffen and the car assumes a more sporty character
