I found a complete rust free 1980 firewall back body to re-do the conversion with. I learned a lot from a few mistakes but now am confident I can do the 80 body perfectly so that you can't tell it's not a factory car. This time though I will put a soft top in it and all.
Who knows maybe just keep the car, always had fun driving it as a t-top so should be even more fun as a droptop!
Aside from maybe the ecm harness and maybe having to dremel a hole out for the harness to go through the firewall, everything else should mount up fine.
My plan with the 80 body is to do a upper deck replacement only so that there is little to no fiberglass work.
I will post a thread on this car when that time comes and show every detail of the conversion including finishing the L-88 hood scoop install for it. As well as the later L-98 serpentine system install and LT1 f-body dual electric fan install.
