If it's not one thing, it's another... Need some advice.

all my inexpensive hydraulic throwout bearings are sitting on a shelf.... that is weird damage, though... the shelf-ones worked until they didn't - often times, in less than 6 months. I know, I'm old school with my mechanical linkage and high pedal pressure....

See if they will rebuild it for you. I have a Mcleod throw out that I sent for rebuild and they replaced it with a new one free.

I'm going to try to stay with this brand but I need to make sure everything is super clean. I don't know how it happened but hopefully cleaning everything out will work.

The sales guy said he will try to send me the sleeve but I have to wait until Monday to find out. The sleeve and o rings are the only thing damaged. I'll let you guys know when I find out.

Before and after on the retainer bearing cover. Starting with a smooth finish. Waiting on the hydraulic throw out bearing parts now. This was pretty easy, 4 bolts torqued at 25lbs, and a gasket.

American Powertrain will sell me the sleeve for $49 so I should get it by Friday... Hopefully.

So far, I have been pretty pleased with them. Good company that stands behind their products.

what do you need the sleeve for? does it slip over the new shaft as a wear item?

is the bolt with the extended shaft a stabilizing shaft so the throw out bearing doesn't spin?

The sleeve has an o ring on it and it slips over the input shaft bearing retainer. The throw out bearing also has o rings in it but also small ports so when you press on the clutch pedal, the pressure moves the throw out bearing to disengage the gears. Yes the bolt allows the bearing to stay in place.

Ok, got it all back together starting with new parts to make sure it's perfectly smooth. I ended up removing the .030 spacer because it did not allow the clutch to fully disengage. The spacer kept the throw out bearing away from the pressure plate fingers. (Per manufacturer spects, I was right in-between tolerances). Anyways, I got the bearing blead, and it's perfect! This is the best clutch system I every had.

It slips into gears like butter, even reverse.
