as with most, cheap headers, these sort of fit

some trimming required

yum, tasty fiberglass

oddly, it's not at the same level (horizontal)

more hacking

and this side (passenger) looks to need nothing

first step, put spacers in the motor mount

better but where those lines are need heat

now it fits

however, all is not peachy

I had this same issue on Plastic 1

driveshaft mostly installed (need 2 more clamps)

someone asked me once how far the side pipes hang down.... not at all

and Photobucket - I'm moving host, but that means that some of my old threads are going to be de-pictured... sorry, but at this point it's kind of the only choice (and I'm not backing off fighting them)

I think hookers fit better than those. I did buy a special spark plug socket with integral u-joint and cut it down some, but otherwise no issues.

Looks good, great progress.

I had hookers on my prior C3 but it was a SBC. This wasn't terrible, it just took fiddling. That said, I think I'll really appreciate the stainless steel tubes rather then the steel of the Hookers.

the Corvette engine compartment is spacious considering I used to my make my spending money building V8 S-10 trucks and Blazers.... there, 1/4" would make or break a fitment

Starter, wired

distributor with adjustable collar, arrived

Spark plugs, gapped and installed. In case your curious what lights off the beast - Briggs and Stratton spark plugs.

Dog installed

linkage, installed - one of those times I'm really glad to have a shop full of parts, my goodness that was a pain finding all the bits that worked together

I think the oil cooler is going in front (just not that oil cooler)

Spiderman had red webbing today

still need to do a fuel system but at this point the drivetrain is together (brakes, clutch, driveshaft, etc)

Time to build a carb

all cleaned and on the new base

I modified the base for boost-reference, so I had to 'fix' that

I know the PO reads this, so normally I don't point stuff like this out - but really, stop it.

my favorite, bare wire to nowhere.. think it's a horn wire..

tempted to one-wire this

'the right hose' yeah, no... oh well, I was looking forward to building another upper hose out of stainless

this is probably too close to rice, but I like these gauges because they're easy to read

Carb assembly

and a problem - the base uses a lever that turns on the body of the carb... which isn't on the proform body

so now I wait for another base...

but it still works for what I need right now - wire routing and fuel system building

the pump

first step is to pull the tank apart so I can install - 8 feed lines and cap the other lines that I won't be using.

pump will go here...

oil sender installed

and wiring commences

Nice! I'll have to snag one of those tools when I get to that point. I like nice and tidy plug wires. Replacements, even those that are supposed direct fit, never fit the way I like.

it comes free with the MSD 8.5mm cut-to-fit set.... what was funny is they didn't advertise that at all, but I'd been having such trouble with wires that I figured I'd buy a decent set of wires - the tool, by itself, really makes the wires a great deal.

That's a nice bonus then. It's amazing how having the right tool makes the job so much easier. For MSD to throw it in is cheap insurance for them to to make sure their product gets a quality installation. Good on them for making sure we get it right. I like filling my box with tools anyway. ;-)

more work.... first, finish the carb

for whatever reason, the clutch rod was too short.... I can fix this

cleaned up the brake dust from the wheels

then put more dust on them

I'm not going to over think this.... it's flares, it's a race car....edited

for the record, these are 3/4 inlets.... not 5/8....edited

that's done, onto the fans.... these fans came of the Wanderer, they're from a 2000 Impala and fits pretty darn good

and as I suspected, it does not fit as a unit without some work

however, with a genuine Corvette motorcycle strap, and removal of a few bolts...

a bit of cutting to clear the upper a-arm

and I now I have dual fans with a pre-made shroud

then...

dagnabit... I ordered - 8 PTFE line, the box says - 8 PTFE line... that ain't - 8.... - 4.... screeech! to a stop

you know, it'd have been nice had they included the 90* fitting for the - 8 line rather then a - 6 90* fitting... oh good grief

at least the new carb fuel line looks pretty

and there's a good spot for the regulator

thinking the pump isn't going to work there.... nuts again

then I had to deal with that f***ing Jeep ..... every time I work on it, I find yet another screw up... this time, the dealership monkeys couldn't figure out how to put a light bulb back in

at least they're consistent?

the rest of that story is that whole last thing with the lug nuts ruined a rim.... but it's mostly because the pad issue (that was caused because I couldn't get the wheel off).... oh well, I'll continue my marketing campaign for them....edited
