Ten years

Well Ya know,
I was totally against Hillary thinking it was just more of the Billary serial rapist cycle that just exploited America, Now I'm rethinking that.

Maybe Hillary would've been the better choice as she's really doing a good job. If her stupid mate hadn't been the loser he is, would've she been the president now?

Of course none of us really know what happened, but....

It seems the SEALS were on a kill'em all mission. It seems they should have been motivated to take at least one of the two men, described as couriers, captive. Also, Bin Laden's son who was apparently unarmed. They could have provided valuable information about who they were interfacing with on the outside world; other Al-Queda members or perhaps people in the Pakistani government. But perhaps an answer is that the Obama administration disavows any "enhanced" interrogation. Also, if captured, they would have to be sent to Guantanamo. This would have been a continuing embarassment to the administration. So maybe the decision had been made to just kill them, notwithstanding any valuable information that could have been obtained.

I think that I agree with you. It's unlikely that we'll ever know for sure what happened and why. In many ways, that's probably the way it should be. Secrecy really does matter. The people that they chose for this mission likely aren't the type that post their thoughts and feelings on the internet.

Consider:

They have been planning this mission for some time. The ROE would have been VERY clear. The team would have had some discretion based on what they found but remember that they have already admitted to watching the place for some time. 15 SEALs was an overwhelming force since they knew that there wasn't a garrison housed there.

The team has been rehearsing on a mock up of the compound for some time. I can't imagine that they didn't practice all manner of scenarios. I would think that they executed the plan exactly as it was laid out.

Because this was a high risk mission in hostile territory with limited hope of support if things went south, they would likely minimize unnecessary complications like hostages. Remember that one of the two chopper pilots likely screwed up as it was and I doubt it was their first time behind the stick. Things go wrong so you minimize the complications. Remember the hostage rescue attempt in Iran?

Remember too that there is a lot of question about who in the Pakistani military knew what. There is also a lot of question about who they would support in a fire fight. 45 minutes doesn't sound long but imagine being in the middle of a military town and hoping to "sneak in" with helicopters, open fire on defenders, pick up any useful intelligence (apparently they picked up a lot) and "sneak out" by helicopter before a battalion shows up to investigate. Perhaps that level of commotion is not unusual there, but I still find it incredible to believe that the local army didn't investigate. In any case, the team most likely accomplished their primary objective within minutes of landing.

I dunno man, 20 minits is not long for any .mil to respond, tough enough getting police/fire/emt to do in that time span.....

:crutches:

Loosing 1 copter probably made them go to plan B
