Welding a sump on the fuel tank

I was thinking about the same setup as you have with the fittings you are using. I found those fittings on Russells website and thought this would work well. You have confirmed it. I still may weld on the sump, since my tank is new and in good shape. Then just use 1 of the lines to feed the pump and put the return line in the upper portion of the tank on the passenger side. Iam going to use the original hard line as my return and it comes out right at the upper corner of the tank. This way I would not have to worry about any fuel turbulance from the return line. With the sump I should never have to worry about the inlet line being uncovered in a turn.

All these pictures and ideas are really helping me try to get this right the first time.


What about 2 of these Tig welded to the bottom of the tank and one on the side for the return. I figure with 2 of these spaced apart and then put to a Y block before the pump it it would never be run dry of fuel.

That should work well, but I'm not sure about the widely spaced inlets. On a hard corner, one of them might get uncovered earlier than a single centralized one.

So a single one right in the neighborhood of the stock pickup like yo uhave should work. I never seem to get to low on gas because my gauge reads empty and I can only stuff in about 14 gallons. I guess that could be a good thing.

Hey guys. I did basically the same thing TT did, with the same Summit sump. However, since I couldn't weld the thin tank, it ended up costing me quite a bit, could have got a better tank for the money I had into it I'm sure. I also need to put a -10an feed line to the pump and run the return to the top of the tank. No problems yet seemingly, but I know it isn't ideal.

I would just get a different sump that had more volume and angled down more so you could put it in correctly instead of backwards like TT and I did. I'll redo mine completely eventually.
